Dolls of Elegance, By Beverly Bihn, San Antonio TX. Reproduction of French Portrait Doll by Jumeau. This is a spectacular porcelain reproduction doll. New in original box, and comes with history book and picture Brooch. The history book covers the history of the Jumeau dolls, which it was patterned from. A description of this doll:
Pure elegance is the word for this reproduction of a Portrait Doll By Jumeau. Red Velveteen outlined in white mink and jewels suitable for the French court. She has a lace blouse completely fashioned from ruching lace, high ruffled neck, and completely outlined in white mink and pearl jewels. At the center of the waist in the back of the jacket is a cluster of dangling pearl beads that match clusters of pearls down sides of the skirt.
The long skirt is pulled up into folds at the sides to reveal the same pearl beading as on the jacket. Pearl beads border the hem of the skirt. The long full train matches the fullness on the back of the jacket.
A mink hat to match the jacket has pearls nestled in the center to match the decoration on the jacket, and a white mink muff dangles from a string of pearls at the wrist.
Brown blown glass eyes from Germany are enhanced by pearl earrings that also match pearls on the hat and jacket. Long, long bouncing curls of brown are pulled to the back to cascade from under the mink hat, with pearls appearing at the top of the cascades.
Hidden beneath the skirt are a petticoat of accordian pleated lace, tiered lace pantaloons, lace stocking, and ballroom slippers encrusted with pearls. The Jumeau reproduction is a"one of a kind" masterpiece of French Bisque porcelain, complete handcrafted painted, fired, and costumed by Beverly Bihn. 1989. This doll was formerly on the Xmas cover of the Doll Reader. The pictures do not do justice. Pictures of the original display are included. Needs some TLC to bring her back to life. She has been in her box too long! I did not take the time to position her hat correctly, and smooth out her velveteen dress. She is just magnificent.
Shipping and handling includes insurance. Includes original box, and all paperwork, which includes the description above. Stands approx. 23". The book is signed by the doll designer. Magnificent...a real rare find.
